Broadening my horizons...

I'm a few weeks in to learning Python. I figured it was high time. I've always had programmer-ish tendencies, and have tried many times to gain some skill in that domain, but I've always gotten frustrated and have given up for one reason or another. But this time, I'm determined to stick it out and I think I've found a good way to learn and that is through Zed Shaw's "Learn Python the Hard Way." Contrary to what the title says, Shaw has actually created the easiest way to learn a programming language I've found. And he's a personable, down-to-earth teacher who makes it all fun and fascinating. I highly recommend this book as it de-mystifies programming and makes learning a joy.

My real goal here is to get to the point that I can write, or extend the tools and scripts I already use and Python seems to be the best language to learn for this mission. Just about every tool I know and use incorporates Python as a scripting language, so I think I've picked the right language and the right path. I feel like I've started a wonderful journey and I'm really excited to see where this road leads.

Art Dump from the Past Few Years

Recently lost a hard-drive holding all this stuff. Until I can get a data recovery service to rescue me, this is all that is left of my various bits and pieces from over the years.

Sketchfab is Fabulous

Sketchfab

Very cool new technology that enables anyone with 3D Models and textures to embed them in a webpage for easy display. I was sold on this after playing with it for a few minutes. Dusted off an old 3D sketch from last year and here ye go. Click on the image to stream in the model. I think Sketchfab is a game-changer.

New Blog!

Been thinking about making a blog covering my explorations of various animation techniques and theories, so it was high time to get off my can and do it. I'll probably write about all kinds of stuff. Hopefully, you'll find some of it useful.
